A COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECT IN TRIBUTE TO THE GREAT
KAZUHIKO SANO, TEACHER, MENTOR, AND FRIEND
R.I.P. DEAR KAZU MAY 31, 2011
To all of Kazu's former students, we welcome you to join us in commemorating the life and work of this great man. He touched us in lasting ways with his encouragement, advice, and humor. We have decided to create a collaborative artwork in his honor that will hang permanently in the 540 Powell Academy of Art University building in San Francisco. We invite you to participate by submitting you own 4" x 4" artwork, which will become part of a large wall collage in tribute to Kazu, to thank him for his years of investing in us, his students.
Your submission will be two-fold: your artwork, and a written piece containing a description of your art and a dedication to Kazu, and a specific memory you cherish of Kazu. This dedication will be archived digitally, along with your artwork, on the blog we are creating for this project.
We are continuing working with Director Chuck Pyle on the detail of a dedication ceremony in mid-October, 2011 at 540 Powell, accompanied by the unveiling of the project.
For now, follow us at the Tribute to Kazu Project Blog http://tributetokazu.blogspot.com/ for more information and event updates. You can also find the specific guidelines from the blog to begin to create your artwork and dedication in tribute to Kazu.
