What can be put into words about the profound spirit that was Kazu? Kazu challenged me as an artist as no one before him had done, and likely no one will again. I never could live up to what was expected of me, yet I live every day knowing I must try. Kazu's deeply positive spirit turned everything he touched to gold, making it shimmer with the most brilliant light. He touched me in the same way, both as an artist and as a person, and I carry this light with me until the last time my fingers touch a brush, and the last time I draw breath.
