I met Kazu for the first time in my illustration class, in 2002 and did'nt really know anything about him except for his reputation of being a great acrylic artist. He walked in quietly, and smiled a small smile at the class. I thought, "Who is this little quy? He does'nt seem all that great or formidible." Most art teachers carry a pretty heavy aura about them, but not Kazu. His was a soft and delicate light, much like some of his colors in his paintings.
I began to cherish my classes, and really become incouraged by this quiet, yet focused, gifted teacher. He taught me many things, but I feel that the encouragement he gave meant more to me than anything. It made me feel that my work really had intrinsic value, and no matter what others would say, he believed.
This Digital Art Piece represents many of the achievements that I learned at the Academy, and I felt it was appropriate to offer as part of the Project.
When I heard he had passed, it truly hurt because I knew we were one great teacher, great soul less in this world.
